The light fantastic

Today I got a bottle of Uisce beatha, Irish whiskey, from my great aunt because my birthday is such near. Still, I don't have an idea why she wants to give Irish whiskey to everybody who's about to reach the age of 18 but that's actually a nice tradition to keep up the spirit of Ireland in us.

When talking about alcohol, I must admit that I don't care about getting drunken and am actually fed about the mentality that every Finn should love alcohol. They say I should be a true drunkard by my Finnish and Irish roots - oh, how I hate stereotypes especially when there's two in one!

After all, when I tell somebody that I don't get the idea of alcohol when the only purpose is to get so bloody drunken that you can't remember what you did and when, people give me long silent leers. Hey, really, who wants to feel ill and have a headache by themselves? Longer leers. At that moment I admit that I'm a stupid little creature who's not enlightened enough to be one of the masters of booze. I shut my mouth but the leers continue.

It is said that alcohol is the drink of the wise. People have different attitudes with it but I've found my own times ago even it doesn't fit with the local one. I'll continue on my very own way which means there's always a reason to drink wisely, not senselessly, though that's not the proper Finnish style. Really, I don't want to force anybody to do as I do and I don't want that to be done to me either. Everybody will be happy when they can do their choices by themselves and without any commentators. :)

Ps. Of course I'll drink that whiskey for it is a fine drink! Little by little, y'know.
