What I did with my Sunday
This is the front of a church in Seymour, MO. Seymour is a rather small town, about 30 miles or so from Springfield. A week and a half ago, a soldier from this town was killed in Afghanistan. He was 48, married, children, one of whom is grown and is also in the military - the Marine Corp, like his father.
It's bad enough when a small town like Seymour loses a son, father, husband.....this loss was made worse when Westboro Baptist Church announced they would be picketing the funeral.
If you are not familiar with WBC - sigh - I've been trying to provide a link here, but it only takes you to a site for adults.....not too surprised....but you can do a search for Westboro Baptist, and you'll get more information than you ever wanted.
Fortunately, WBC never showed. Instead, hundreds of people stood outside the church, just in case, and showed their respects to a man that gave his life trying to protect the very principles that allow idiots like those from WBC to do what they do.
This shot is the front of the church where the Patriot Riders were waiting for the procession with the Sergeant to move from the church. Sgt. Pharrel will not be buried in Seymour - he is being interred at Arlington.
