Kendal Parish Church

Today's the day .................... for a riverside walk

It's a very pleasant walk along the River Kent through Kendal with lots of interesting buildings to see on the way. This is the back of the Parish Church, a Grade I Listed building and reportedly the widest parish church in England. Apparently it's only three feet less wide than York Minster.

If you go inside you can't help but be impressed at how large and bright it is. This lightness is due to the unusual construction of its five aisles, separated by columns and allowing generous window area. The central aisle is 800 years old and the other aisles have been added over the centuries so that, in its heyday, a congregation of 1100 was regularly accommodated.

It's a great place to sing in ...............
