Tea Time
Had a chance to go to tea with a special long time friend today! I've known her for about 35 years or so and first met her working at the bus garage. Her husband has had Alzheimers for quite awhile now and he's in a special care facility because of it. It's an insidious disease and has taken a toll on their lives but she has handled it gracefully. I am so blessed to know her and have her in my life.
It was a federal holiday today being Martin Luther King Jr. Day so that was why I was off work and able to have this precious time with my friend. MLK was such an important man in shaping the history of our country. Growing up in the fifties and sixties his impact upon me was very influential and so many civil rights laws stem from his efforts and his leadership. He made the connections between poverty, economics and war and was assassinated because of it. Our country still has a long way to go in these struggles that he fought for and believed in. We named out son after him.
Peace, Clare
