Sheilah's snaps

.....and Counting

Taken me a while to get here, lacking the time and talent to blip every day.

I was given my first camera as a kid. It had no light meter and you had to turn dials to set the aperture, shutter speed and distance from subject - educated guesswork basically. My Dad and I used to develop and print the photos in a makeshift darkroom (binliner over the dining room window).

Hours of the school holidays were spent cocooned in a quasi-nocturnal existence; I can still remember the smell of the chemicals and the thrill of seeing each photo gradually appearing.
That same feeling of being totally absorbed in something creative is what I have so enjoyed about blipping.

That and all the amazing photos on here - and the comments - especially the ones that make me laugh :-)
