for a greener and cleaner world...

Anil Kumar Varnam - the young gentleman featured here just completed his postgrad and is now on an 8000km bicycle ride, covering a north-south India loop, spreading the message and trying to create awareness against pollution and healthy living...what makes the feat more incredible is that he's riding solo without any support vehicle or companion of any sorts...he has his entire ride planned out...he rides about 150km everyday, moving from one town to another, and on reaching there, talks to the local police and requests them to find him a cheap and safe place to spend the night...on reaching the venue, he does his laundry and prepares for next day's ride...wherever he goes, he tries to meet school kids and youth and tries his best to spread the message of environment cleanliness and healthy living...he plans to complete his 8000km ride in 60 days, covering from the southernmost point of the country to Wagah border up in the north...I got a chance to talk to him today and was amazed at his courage and determination...a very soft spoken and humble man, yet firm as a rock on what he truly believes...a scientist and former president, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam is one of his sources of inspiration, who he plans to meet when he is in Delhi...

once he achieves this feat, he plans to go for a 6-year world tour of 25,000km as a part of the world environment summit...that trip will be touching all the continents, including Antarctica, where the team will just be landing and taking off as biking is not really feasible on that surface...

I was totally in awe of his courage and passion...and he being so modest and humble about the whole thing made the story sound more unreal. Respect!
