For Ross Brian..
Took an hour off work and went for a walk by the river and came across this view over a weir.
I noticed some floral tributes and discoverd that poor Ross had drowned here whilst swimming in July 2009.
Ten soldiers drowned at the same spot while on a military exercise during the Second World War.
The soldiers - all aged 18 and from the 10th Duke of Wellington's Regiment and the Durham Light Infantry, were carrying out a river crossing exercise on January 17, 1945. It had been designed to prepare them for the crossing of the Rhine in Germany.
Sorry not the happiest of stories
