Wednesday Walk

Not the official walk - it was too late as we had a meeting at 1.30pm today - but my pal H and I went for a short stroll at 12.30. Along the canal again then back up the Colinton Road, about 35 minutes.

The canal towpath was hazardous today, with speeding cyclists who didn't have, or didn't bother to ring, warning bells. The worst spot was 2 cyclists going in opposite directions who decided to pass each other right where we were walking and nearly knocked us into the water.

I used my telephoto lens to photograph some ducks - but the results weren't exciting, I suppose because you only need a bit of bread with ducks and can then get a close up with any old camera!

This image is of the chimneys of Waverley House, Perdrixknowe, which has been converted and extended into a sheltered housing complex for the elderly. A friend pointed out the unusual chimneys with their pointy shapes. The house used to belong to the owners of MacNiven & Cameron who made the Waverley pen nib in the 1800s. If you look in LARGE you'll see the chimneys are shaped like nibs!

"They came as a boon and a blessing to men,
the Pickwick, the Owl and the Waverley Pen"
