With the signals set for a race AMTRAK train 288 is first out of the chute as it leaves Rochester late Sunday afternoon for Syracuse and eventually NYC. It was followed quickly by a short stack train on the second track. Unless it plays the part of the hare it should easily get to Syracuse first since the passenger train has a 10 mph speed advantage, but, as any Amtrak traveler can tell you, anything is possible.
