HMS Ark Royal
Today?s Blip I thought I would go down to Gosport?s water front and take a shot of The Ark Royal.
Today & tomorrow is the last time that SOTV (Ship Open To Visitors) will take place and the public will have a chance to step onboard and to experience what life onboard a carrier is like.
I thought I would take this shot because back in 70?s I watched Ark Royal the 4th enter Plymouth for the last time. I was with my uncle who served on her. I was at the ripe old age of 12.....ish. It was because of my uncle taking me to see this that I decided that?s what I wanted to do when I grew up & to follow in the footsteps of my father and my uncle and Join the Royal Navy. That?s exactly what I did. I spent nearly 26 Years & had a fantastic career. I never served onboard the Ark In my time but had the opportunity well drafted to HMS Invincible for two years. Have to say it was one of my best drafts. So this is to say thank you to you Graham.
