Some thoughts about...

...the power of suggestion

For as long as I can remember, Mr. M and I have been having these smoothies in the morning. You can say it is a ritual, broken only when we're traveling.

It's a simple recipe: milk, yogurt, banana, soy protein powder, ice cubes, blenderised at high speed into a thick, not-too-sweet, frothy twelve ounce power breakfast and served in one of five different colors of plastic tumblers, which happen to be the perfect size to split the recipe in exactly half.

When Mr. M makes the smoothies, he doesn't give any thought to the color tumblers that he chooses. I believe he does this because he is convinced the smoothie tastes the same regardless of the color it is served in. When I make the smoothies, I always choose a frosted white tumbler for myself and a yellow one for him. Creature of habit? No.

It all comes down to the feeling I get when I look down at that bubbly surface and rim of the tumbler upon taking that first, delicious sip. White gives a sense of peace and quiet. It causes me to take my time sipping. Yellow is good too, but not as good as white. Orange is a definite step down, lime green yet another and blue, well, blue feels simply wrong.

Been a bit busy with a project but have a fun weekend to look forward to.
