Eye of frog.....
As a variation on the famous Shakespeare verse...
"Eye of newt, and toe of frog,
Wool of bat, and tongue of dog,
Adder's fork, and blind-worm's sting,
Lizard's leg, and howlet's wing,--
For a charm of powerful trouble,
Like a hell-broth boil and bubble."
....today I bring you ''eye of frog'' as part of the 2011 macro challenge.
Despite the cold grey weather, I decided to do a bit of tidying up in the garden, and came across four hibernating frogs under a stone next to one of our ponds. I couldn't resist the opportunity to take a few shots, and as it was cold, the frogs were reluctant to move. You'll be pleased to know that no frogs were harmed during the production of this image, and all are safely snuggled back under their stone. If anyone wants to see the whole of the frog's head you can find it here.
This image gives a glimpse of the beauty of frogs eyes, and if you look into the interior, you can even see what I think are muscle fibres associated with the iris (probably need to view it in large). You can also see the reflection of the ring flash used with my 100mm macro lens - the only way of getting this sort of detail on a cold, grey January afternoon.
But, on a more spring-like note, one of our hens laid an egg today! Hurrah!
