coffee angels
"when you think It can't get any worse, put your hands on your hips, your face to the sky and shout I am Peter pan!" Vaughan Ball.
This blip marks the end of a hilariously bad week at work. Each day i have thought, "ah well, it can't be worse tomorrow." And it has been. I sit now with a beer giggling to myself, as although it was bad, its finished.
This coffee arrived this morning at the same time as a phonecall saying one of the staff were off sick, and another was being sick, on the way along the motorway. Just as i looked at my diary to see the busiest saturday we have EVER had, my phone went with this news. (one member of staff down and the whole place falls apart)
so, in walks Mike. The local coffee shop owner, with a smile and a "I had a feeling you would need this, I dont know why" psychic Mike! He was a Godsend.
As the morning trundled on, sick on the motorway girl turned up like she had been dragged through a hedge, which on a saturday morning means one thing to me, and that isn't stomach bug, as she claimed. so, not best pleased at my hungover wreck of a "right hand man", I went for a 2 minute walk, to get some air, and to find a random stranger to hug in the street to help me get through the day ahead. Couldnt find a random stranger, but Mike the coffee shop owner got a little squeeze, as he laughed at me, lost, unable and too angry to face the day. His place is like the cafe from friends. Except you are allowed to hug the staff. Sick on the motorway girl continued to be sick, every ten minutes, and we all struggled along with sick at home girls work, aswell as our own. It was ridiculous. But, it was all lovely and understanding people we had today, I am lucky that the majority of my clients really are lovely. I was so thankful for my youngest collegue, lets call her "little star, " who played the day perfectly
I am laughing now that I am thinking back, with a beer and after some food, but I was so thankful for this coffee. Mike will now be known as the coffee angel.
So, not the best end to not the best week, but dare I say it? Next week will be better. And seriously... when am I going to stop mooooaning? :D tomorrow. I promise. :) x
