Lighthouses & other illumination

A visit to the national museum lighthouse exhibition today- brilliant! Took mum along, as apparently we share an interest in these things.... we think the appeal might be the solitariness and remoteness of it all.
The exhibition was grand, with a couple of books to browse, containing lovely excerpts of lighthouse keeper tales, and copies of letters from the northern lighthouse board- who, back in the day, rewarded with one guinea those who "kept a good flame". Love it.
Cocktails afterwards, much to mums bemusement- not sure that's a big part of French life! Still, a very fine day.
