A Late Scene At Swanage
Alittle day trip today. We headed off to Corfe Castle and altho both of us have a multitude of photos from there we have both chosen snaps from Swanage, our afternoon destination. Despite the blustery wind I was determind to get on the beach and when I spotted this shell I knew it was a "blipper "!
Swanage has the honour of being the subject of a poem by Thomas Moore, titled as above:
To Swanage, that neat little town in who's bay
Fair Thetis shows off in her new silver slippers.
Lord Bags took his anual trip t'other day,
To taste the sea breezes and chat with the dippers.
.... and so it goes on for 4 more verses ....
There certainly was a sea breeze today, but no dippers - perhaps because I was wearing my brown Hi-Tecs not silver slippers?
