An Occasional Glimpse

Tentsmuir March Stone

With it being nearly Wednesday I decided to go on a small walk. Five miles to be precise through Tentsmuir Forest. I'm lucky enough for this to be only a 5 minute drive away. It has some of the most spectacular sceneary in the country. This time I went to Tentsmuir Point where the seals pup. No seals at the time of the year but I've plans to go back.

On the way there is the March Stone. The inscription reads The march between the Shanwell and Old Muirs salmon fishing is a straight line from the top of Normans Law to the low water. This march stone stands in the said stright line. It was erected in 1794. I know what a March is (at least in Wales because there its the boundary area). And a Law in Scotland is a hill. The rest I leave to you to decipher. I love how the moss has gone a vivid green in some of the letter.
