Aboard the HMS Ark Royal

Yesterday we had the honour of bidding farewell to the HMS Ark Royal in Portsmouth. We queued for 3 hours in the freezing wind but it was totally worth it. It was open to the public for just 2 days on 22-23 January 2011 before it is decommissioned. So it was an opportunity we could not miss! It is not everyday that you can walk on the flight deck of an aircraft carrier!

There was a great atmosphere in the good-natured crowd. My son loved the helicopter he sat in.
