Above the Birds
The University of Edinburgh's 'Golden Boy' stands triumphantly, arm aloft, atop the Old College dome as birds perch on the chimneys below.
Not as sharp as it should be, but it's a crop from a 200mm shot taken without a tripod from Regent Road as I rushed into work. I liked how the morning's golden sunlight illuminated the gilded statue and was reflected off the brickwork - set against the cool morning sky.
The statue was made by John Hutchison and reportedly modelled on a local athlete, Anthony Hall.
