My "Anytime" Resolutions
I hate new year's resolutions. Absolutely abhor them. The theory behind it is good, but there are so many downfalls to it. I feel like it promotes some bad things in a way. Like holiday binging. Yes, we all do it. But, why? Is it to be merry? Or, because we know we don't get delicious food like this all the time? Or, is it because we think it's ok to do since come the new year we'll start working out and being healthy...so, live it up while you can? It's just a thought - I'm sure not all of you agree with this, but I feel like new year's resolutions promote putting off good habits. Then there's the whole idea that you must continue doing what you resolved to do. Inevitably something happens, and most of us end up not sticking to our new year's resolutions. For me, it's because if I miss a day or two, I feel as if I lost a "challenge." I can no longer continue with my resolution, and it must wait until next year.
So, here's what I propose. Start a resolution whenever you feel like it. You don't have to wait until the new year. Also, if you miss a day or two...who cares? Just jump right back into it the next day...or the next week...or the next month! Why wait until a specific date to start all of the wonderful things you could be doing today!
So, I'm going to start today, and my resolution is to eat healthier. More whole grains, more vegetables, more fruits, and less fried foods. Here's my little snack collection in my room. Better than cookies and chips, right? :)
