Sunset hedge
Today was bitterly cold and according to the weather forecast there is more to come from the North-east over the week-end. This morning the Rural Payments Agency sent an inspector to make sure we were doing what we are supposed to be doing with the Stewardship Scheme involving conservation. He had a handheld GPS which received an image of the farm while he and Tim had to go and measure the land to make sure everything was correct down to the last metre! Big Brother is watching! We did pass but with a few little points to resolve. The two of them then studied maps in the kitchen.
It was also the Farmers Meet with the hunt down at the pub. They start with a full breakfast provided by the pub. Last time there were about 70 takers - not as many farmers on horseback today, the weather was too cold but the hounds carried on following the scent until late afternoon with the convoy of followers in their vehicles behind.
Having taken the dog out for a walk I decided to photograph this sunset through the hedge whilst walking back up the hill. I could not feel my fingers, it was so cold!
