Monte Carlo Or Bust

For the first time since 1973 - and in its centenary year - a Monte Carlo Rally started from Glasgow. I went there today with my daughter to get some photos of the classic cars that set off this evening to drive to Monte Carlo. I'd like to have been there for the start of the rally but was not able to so had to make do with getting some photos of the cars and drivers as they gathered in George Square.

I understand the rally used to start from Glasgow every January during the 1950's and 60's and that the event would attract thousands of spectators to watch the cars leave from the Royal Scottish Automobile Club. Today 48 teams have entered. All of them in pre 1973 classic cars. Two of the teams are from Scotland and others are from around the world including France, Canada and Japan.

This photo is of a driver and his Mini Cooper.

Best wishes to all the contestants and safe journey to a warmer Monte Carlo
