Incarceration
"But I've done nothing wrong!"
It's quite true, but like multitudes of innocent people the world over, Casey finds himself in close confinement today.
When I occasionally have to go away, the cats and birds remain in situ with someone coming in to attend to their needs but a dog cannot be left alone. So Casey is booked into this rather stark-looking dogs' hotel. It's not as bad as it seems: it's run by dog lovers who take their guests out walking twice a day, the food is adequate, if dull, and there is plenty of company within ear- and nose-shot.
Casey has been having short breaks here for nigh on eight years now so it's hardly a new experience. But he does look forlorn to be wrenched from his cosy bed beside the radiator at home. He doesn't understand that he'll be back there on Monday.
