Thistle Down

By Ethel

I'd Like To Be

I'd like to be,
So far away.
Where soft winds catch,
A flower spray.

To sift its perfume,
On the air.
Some here...some there,
Then everywhere.

I'd like to see,
Soft shades of something new.
The sun browned tufts,
The hopping kangaroo.

To raise my eyes,
And in my glances see.
A Koala's fury stare,
Looking down at me.

I'd like to be so far away,
New sights would meet my eyes.
Matted grass along the shores,
And sea-birds in the skies.
