Cameron to Egypt
I headed into town this morning to catch up with the 'stop the cuts' march.
According to the local rag, it was due to set off from the town park at 11am, so I plotted the route and timings meticulously.
I knew that if I was in a particular position at 11.10am I could get a cracking overhead shot of the marchers.
So I was there at 11.05am... and the clocked ticked... and ticked... and ticked. I gave up at 11.30, went into the town centre and found the 'stop the cuts' marchers having a rally outside the main public building.
The paper had got it wrong. The march had started at 10am, not 11am. And newspaper executives wonder why people don't buy their papers.
Anyway, the rally was stirring stuff - short but effective speeches and a real feeling of anger among the people gathered there. But maybe there could have been a few more protesters there.
While I was getting shots, I spotted cleansteve with his Canon. So after we had chatted and he had kindly introduced me to several councillors and friends, we headed to the pub for a drink and a longer chat.
All in all, an excellent morning after the false start.
