Kingfisher eating cicada, Pauatahanui, daybreak

I photographed this kingfisher (Halcyon sancta) at the birdwatchers hide by the mouth of the Pauatahanui Stream. It was just after dawn. The air was cool, the sky was overcast, and a sea breeze blew from the northwest.
