Mission aborted!
Today we planned to visit the Museum of Chocolate.
It is just next to the old chocolate factory of "Pavlidis". I remember I visited with school this factory during its working years. I must have been not more than 7 yo.
Right now -and since a long time ago- it is not working and "Pavlidis" company was bought by "Kraftfoods". Thank God they still make the dark chocolate, the best one I have ever tasted, and they still produce it wrapped with the characteristic light blue paper!!!!
I still feel the smell of the chocolate and all other candies they used to produce in this factory, from that day we visited it with school.
Unfortunately the length of the line we met in the entrance, made us stop thinking about entering in there. There were a lot who had the same idea with us. So I have told to the rest of the family "mission aborted".
So we set plan B in effect and went to a café nearby.
The picture you see has something to do with ... chocolate, because it was taken while we were drinking our hot chocolates. It is the top of the National Observatory of Athens building. To give you an idea of where it is, I can tell you that it is very near to Akropolis hill.
As I read in http://en.wikipedia.org "...founded in 1842, it was the first scientific research institute built after Greece became independent in 1829. It was also the first scientific research institute in Balcans. It was financed in large part by the benefactor and diplomat Baron George Sinas. Astronomical observations began in September 1847, under the direction of George Vouris, its first director..."
