Tell His Girl of How it Used to be....

I like to think, of all the things I've done, being a mum is one of my greater achievements. Parenting alongside my Si, I think we've done okay. Our kids are happy, polite, and likeable.

I did have failings in the parenting stakes tho. Whilst I always answered any question, [yes, absolutely any questions] completely honestly, I failed in places to offer any general knowledge or common sense.

This has often led to distressing situations for Tooli,(whilst very young), where in absence of her parents' guiding hand, she has mistaken Chips to be made of Chicken, Greenland to be Scotland, and in fact anything we gave her to eat, to be chicken, when in fact it was probably not. She liked Chicken, it was easier to say it was chicken, than get into explanations about cows, and bolts....

One of the ones which made us laugh the most, and recognise our failing and force us to confront things which were directly in front of her, and unexplained, was this sight.

Each week, we drove to the supermarket. It was an eight mile drive, and whilst we all chatted all the way, didn't realy discuss much about what was outside the car.

It was only one week, as we drove slowly past this sight, Tooli sighed a great sigh and said,

"Was it a very bad accident that killed everyone?"

Ooops.
