My Pancheon

This Victorian bowl is very special to me. My mother always told me how she was taught to make bread in it. She lost her mother when she was 9 years old and had to take on a maternal role to her younger sister and brother. When I was a child I remember her setting this bowl full of dough on the hearth to rise. When we moved to our present house I had the kitchen cupboard made to specific dimensons in order to accomodate the pancheon on top! Interestingly, when I googled the name to check spelling, I was directed to a Sheffield web site where there were a number of references to a pancheon. Sheffield is my home town. Perhaps a different term is used elsewhere I don't know. Anyway, this is a very tangible link with my old mum who is no longer around.
