LEAF OF FAITH
I came across this leaf in my collection of found things today.
It reminds me of when we visited the war museum at Verdun in France. On display there were some skeleton leaves which had been painstakingly pricked out by men in the trenches, so that pictures and words remained. I tried it; it must have taken those soldiers hours, and they then had to keep them safe, somewhere in their muddy world. One leaf had the image of a gun carriage and the words "Souvenir Verdun 1916". Another also depicted a gun carriage, and was mounted on a card with the written words "A ma chere Jeane, Jules R". I wonder whether these men survived, and if Jeane ever saw Jules again.
