Scale
very quick blip today... too many things to do...
Today I've been working on a set design for a play called Neville's Island, it's about a bunch of blokes on one of these outward bound style management courses, who get themselves stranded on an island in the middle of the lake district.. it then gets a bit lord of the fly's but with comedy... So I've been trying to figure out how to make a realistic, non pantomime looking tree, on stage that the actors will be able to climb. This is my 1:25 scale version. It's going to be a a scaffold triangle with a bendy ply surface and real tree branches piercing the ply and attached to the scaff. It'll then be textured and painted to blend the real and the fake together. The scale version is card, garden twigs, paint, pva and dowling...
Bit of a challenge trying to create the great outdoors on stage without it looking naff and without requiring much of a budget...
Hopefully the director will be happy...
