Cedar Bling
Today we experimented with fixings for the cedar boards which will clad the Upper Ground Floor.
We've been concerned for a while now that, whilst cedar looks lovely when fresh and new and equally lovely when mellow and grey, there is an ugly in-between stage for several years when it is patchy and stained, particularly when it is under deep roof overhangs.
We've recently sourced a silky silvery pre-aged board from France but we want to give the cladding a bit of a fillip by fixing the boards with counter-sunk stainless steel screws and washers. We think we have now found the perfect combination.
These fixings will create a strong vertical rhythm and add the equivalent of statement jewellery on a simple dress.
