Pakawau beach bum!

After what turned out to be a very late night last night thanks to Andy Murray's match in the Australian open semi-final I decided that my long weekend would begin only when my eyes and body wanted it to. The end resut was a slightly later than usual rise, a slow breakfast and packing of the car then a leisurely drive over the hill to Golden Bay. Nice :)

On the way over I decided to stop for a coffee at the iconic Mussel Inn cafe. I'm almost ashamed to say that, after all the times I've been over here, I've never been in there before! Now that I've done it once I just know that it'll happen again....and again!! It's a truly Golden Bay experience - rustic but classy, earthy, welcoming and unique. And nice coffee too :)

I arrived at my cabin mid afternoon, unpacked, took a stroll along the beach and sat in the sun a while to soak up the air - and the sunshine! Considering today was supposed to be a bit rainy/blowy in the tail of the tropical cyclone that's descended on us from the Pacific it's been remarkably fine.......though it has been very blowy!

I guess it couldn't have been all that bad though as this wee beach bum was simply loving his time on the golden sands :)
