Too old to die young

Old tyres and a rusty shed

Yet another huge expense on our car and all this while the roofers are still on top of the house. 4 new tyres ordered, to be fitted sometime this week. Bread and dripping for the rest of the month.

I don't know how tyre yards look down your way but here there are always large piles of old ones stacked up all over the place. I am sure people find a use for them. If I remember correctly my grandfather, who was a farmer, used to have loads of them on top of his silage pit and the cows used to get really excited when the tyres came off and the smell of fermented hay hit the stables. Funny how old rubber can conjure up such pleasant memories.
