A family day-out by the Thames
A slightly diversionary day started early with a trip across country to Swindon, to rendezvous with my sister, Rosie. She then drove us up the M4 and M3 to Sunbury-on-Thames, where we'd arranged to visit our Uncle Peter and then to take him out for lunch. He is a delightful 93 year-old, who loves travelling, opera and some company, since his wife died recently.
He has lived close to the Thames for countless generations, latterly in a house on the riverbank near here, until he needed to be looked after in a home. He guided us to a pub here at Shepperton Weir, which turned out to offer surprisingly tasty food. After we had ordered, I explained that I wanted to take a photograph for my blip and quickly nipped out onto the riverbank. As you can see the sun was shining and this island's peaceful setting glowed with a sense of spring in the air. I wanted to show the gorgeous blue sky and the watery reflections.
Then it was a quick return down the motorway to get home to finish my work. I am running late, but am very glad we had time with Peter
