Slide

My brother has been visiting the midlands for the weekend and on Sunday we took our nephews out for the day to Green's Windmill and Science Centre. The working mill stood idle as it wasn?t windy enough today but we took a trip up to the top anyway. Jamie was scared of the ladders but when Connor promised him, ?If you go up the ladders I won?t hit you for 25 years? Jamie decided to give it a try.

As well as being a miller, George Green, the son of the mill founder, was also an accomplished mathematician. My brother tried to explain differential calculus to the boys as there were equations written around the buildings. It also took us a while to notice that the play area has a mathematical theme.

The slide, with it?s symbol for pi at the top, is always a favourite of the boys..... young and not so young!
