Family tree

This selection of photos, cerificates and documents are part of my quest to find out more about my mother's side of the family. The lady in the photograph is the natural mother of my great grandmother. She was born in Edinburgh and the story goes she had connections with royalty ( how many times have you heard that one??) She is somewhat of a mystery and after having her daughter (my great grandmother) adopted seemed to disappear and then return on and off to visit.

The strange thing is that the last time I did some work on this, her residence was somewhere in Kensington, London. Another little family treasure is a baby's pillowcase with the Prince of Wales feathers embroidered on it. I wonder........
