mannequin head
now that is a smile. just a funny shot in a second hand store.
"I wish more people felt that photography was an adventure the same as life itself and felt that their individual feelings were worth expressing. To me, that makes photography more exciting."
Harry Callahan
Mannequin heads can be used in learning basic portrait lighting styles: broad vs. short, butterfly vs. loop vs. Rembrandt vs. side/split.
Trying out the light direction and the resulting pattern of highlights and shadows by using a mannequin head is a new idea to me. Subjects get tired of posing. Light should be placed higher. To get a good Rembrandt lighting effect, I need to put the camera a bit more to the side and a bit higher than where I usually aim from.
I'll give it a try. It's all about the light
