goodbyes

today was one for the books. after a heartfelt goodbye with my father, my mother and i headed an hour south to stay the night before my early flight. after a lovely cap to the day out for drinks and appetizers, we thought it time to retire to bed (we were going to have an early morning). but after checking my flight status to see a big red cancelled, plans changed. after ten pm we hopped in the car and made our way another five hours south, arriving at the detroit airport in time for a couple hours of sleep and hopping on a plane.

despite wild winter weather across the country, i smile to myself knowing ive completed step one of this adventure. up next: getting myself to ecuador!
