Community Spirit
Three years ago my mate Mick had the idea of organising a series of Autumn / Winter talks in Roy Bridge Village Hall to help cement the community spirit. The talks tend to be of a local nature and / or are given by local people, so for the last three years we have organised our annual social get-together to coincide with the talk that either Mick or Kathy gives.
Tonight it was a Norwegian evening (as I said local interest!) which covered everything from the Second World War, Marine & SBS training & some of our own winter & summer trips over there, however the highlight had to be the half time Norwegian refreshments, where local ladies had been scouring the internet for Norwegian cake recipes - yummy - and we also managed to finish a bottle of Aquavit giving a splash in the Norwegian coffee.
Afterwards after clearing the hall it was across the road to the Roy Bridge Bar where a ceilidh featuring Roy Bridge's own one man band playing squeezebox and keyboard went on until one in the morning.
