Freezing rain
Tuesday
So far we seem to have fared quite well from the monster storm affecting much of the country. We haven't had any snow, just rain and freezing rain, fortunately the latter not being in sufficient quantity to cause problems with downed tree limbs and cables. Over 30 states have been under some sort of weather advisory. Airlines have canceled over 4,000 flights. The storm delivered a record snowfall of more than 13 inches in Tulsa, Oklahoma, whilst Chicago was bracing for a possible 2 feet. Fortunately they had treated our roads well overnight, so the roads were largely OK for the morning commute, but driveways and sidewalks were treacherous. Our morning bible study was canceled - several of our ladies are quite elderly, so it wasn't worth taking any risks. About mid-morning I got out to the Y to go swimming, otherwise I've been home. This evening we should have had bells but that was canceled too - our director lives near Dayton - and I think they had it worse further north.
