Arne

My Danish grandfather Arne made this Viking ship in his workshop from metal, as well as lots of really beautiful candelabras that other members of my family have. My sister makes beautiful things from metal so carries on the tradition. Arne played musical instruments including accordian, violin and harmonica and was self taught, doing it just for fun. He owned lots of pipes and he always had tobacco and reading glasses in his top pocket. He didn't say much, but was very funny and used to play around at the dinner table taking people by surprise by poking them in the arm with his fork whilst making a scary sound when they least expected it. He enjoyed playing cards with us and would often say 'snyde' (Danish word for cheat) if he thought we had a good hand :)
