Through the gate

This is the entrance to Boughton Monchelsea church seen through the lychgate. The gate is thought to be one of the oldest in the country and dates back to 1470 while the church still includes sections built in 1100. It is claimed that this church and a couple of others in the area which sit on a ridge above the Weald of Kent are built on the sites of earlier Roman temples.

Boughton is a couple of miles from here and the views are tremendous but today the light is terrible and it's misty and bitterly cold so I'm afraid you're stuck with this one. I'll go back soon though because there are deer and loads of mistletoe in the trees and stuff.
