The Tide is High
Always rushing against the tide today it seemed. Occassionally getting caught by it too. Wet soggy feet are not a nice way to spend the day.
Out in Queensferry the tide was up down and all around. It was a day of delicate balance. Dad was very unsteady yet insistent on getting up and moving round. That's fine whilst I'm there to suuport him but increasing mum is becoming less able to deal with it. Understandably. However, a few shots at getting his own way, and like a big kid, he became bored with that game and moved on to his favourite - 'Who's Stealing All the Money?'
He was a perfect Dickensian image, sitting hunched over his cash, making piles and counting again and again. On the way to get a paper he found a £1 on the ground - as he was offering to go halfsies with me (bless his soul) I suggested we invest. A lucky dip lottery ticket was bought and we await our glory - halfsies of course.
I left much later today, when I felt things were calmer. Last week the sleepers at the beach had impressed so I wanted to shoot that today. Once again I was defeated, by the tide which was way in, and I couldn't get near them. I shot this instead and only when I was back at the car did I realise it was the perfect chance to play with my shutter speeds to get a better looking movement to the water. Ah well, I need a bench mark to chart my improvement. I guess its good that I do have a better idea what to do, just need to get my brain working at the same time as my camera.
Back home and my boy is so very, very excited about his forthcoming ski trip. Its only two sleeps now. Yesterday evening he went to bed very early because the waiting was exhausting. Tonight, when I chased him off the computer, he was suggesting he would go to bed soon, because then it would be tomorrow sooner! I love his logic but I'm trying to do a bit of back peddling so perhaps I shouldn't sleep then tomorrow may not come?
