Weekend Project
I know this is cheating but I cant help it. This weekend I spent about 5 hours making a French cake called croquembouche for my aunts party. My first. I got the recipe off a holiday magazine and it turned out quite well.
Of course I did forget to add an ingredient, but luckily I caught my mistake early and was able to salvage the cream filling. I also managed to burn the caramel coating. Who knew sugar and corn syrup could burn within seconds. One second the caramel was a beautiful golden color with a very appetizing aroma. The next a brown colored awful tasting liquid.
Well practice makes perfect. However, the next time I make this I'll try a different cream filling recipe. I didn't really like this one. Of course I also messed up on it. Could be why. LOL
