Tapestries at Les Gobelins

The Manufacture des Gobelins, a large building in Paris's 13th arrondissement, has served the French as a royal factory for the making of tapestries since the 17th century (along with a second one established in Beauvais).

In the past few years, the building has been extensively refurbished with a huge exhibition space. This is a scene from an exhibition of tapestries from the collection of Louis 14th, who was king of France from 1643 to 1715. It was a marvelous display, extending over two large floors with copious information, including on the artists who provided the the models for the tapestries.
