Where are all the Briefcases?

When I was at school in the 80's and then started work in the 90's I used a proper Briefcase.

I noticed on the train today that it was all Rusksacks, including me. I might dig out my old leather 'Attache' case with the expandable sides.

Where have all the briefcases gone?
