Such a Feeling Is Coming Over Me
This morning I left for the station, and the wind was blowing quite a breeze.
The forecast was for gales. I think all the weather all over the world is tied in. Australia was gettign hurricanes, and I think our high winds were the result of the massive change in air pressure over there.... but that is just my opinion.
I loved sitting at my window all day listening to the wind blowing off the buildings around me, of the noise of bins being banged by the wind, watching leaves blow wildly all over the place. M at work wanted to run me to the station but I was desperate to get out in it.
Hat in place, scarf tied round my head, I stepped out the door. By this time the rain had started, as I got along to the end of the street, I stepped onto the road to avoid a crowd who had gathered around a drunk / stoned woman who had blown over in the wind. As I got round the corner, the full blast of the breeze took me from behind and blew me along the street. Brilliant.
In the station, the rain and the wind were hitting off the glass roof. It was an amazing noise, and I loved just standing there listening to it. The train was late, no surprise there, so I sat outside, and listened to the wind, and got hit in the face by the occasional blast of wind which managed to find it's way in.
The train took forever to get home. It was going slower than normal, and stopping for longer than necessary at each stop. When we stopped at the home station, and the doors opened, we all took a big breath and as the doors opened, we were doubly slapped in the face by the sharp wind and the rain.
We've just had a drive down to the beach (10pm), but the tide is out, and it's very dark, so i'd need a long exposure with a very still tripod to get anything like a decent picture. So today's picture is the birds this morning, when, as the sun rose, suddenly went into overdrive singing and gliding.
They were as exhilarated by the wind as I am.
