DJ Thomas on the wheels of steel.

Part of Tom's condition is he has hyper sensitive hearing.

Things like the hoover, hair dryers, school bell or any loud unfamiliar noises cause him a lot of distress.

After seeing occupational Therapy last week it was recommended that we try something called The Listening Programme.

This is to try and 'tune' his ears into new sounds and not make loud sounds so distressing.

A series of 10 Cds that he has to work his way through over a 20 week period. So each night before bedtime he gets to listen to classical music intermixed with natural sounds like running water and bird song. It sounds rather relaxing in an ambient hippy kind of way. Lets hope it works.

Next week we have a meeting to see how we can get him to sleep, as on a good evening it's taking him around 3 hours until he just collapses.
