heather...

...the nurses aide who helped get mom ready for transport to the rehab facility today. what a difference good nursing staff makes... caring, compassionate people who take the time to make sure you are comfortable; that clothes are on straight, you've had your meds, your things are packed up, papers are signed, sticky stuff is washed off your body.... lots of little things... an extra bag, take these tissues... can you see it in her face?

once we got to the rehab facility, they were just as nice, making sure mom was set up in her room... swarming around her to welcome her - gathering information, letting her know what the routine was going to be during her stay... putting us at ease. mom felt good right away... so did i since i will be leaving to head back home on saturday. but i think she'll be in very good hands until i return in a month or so to get her back home.

great neighbors.... wonderful health care workers... my trip has been filled with meeting some extraordinary people and i'm so grateful... those who have devoted their lives to helping others get better after surgery or some physical ailment are often overlooked... it is hard work and deserves recognition, so thank you, heather and all those who have and are helping to take care of my mother during this time... (i am telling them, too...)

happy day.....
