Somewhere on the East Coast
The painter is little known - his surname was Jack and he was Victorian and he painted mainly coastal scenes in the East Neuk of Fife and down to Northumbria. This one is daited 1872.
It's not greatly valuable - it was given to me as a present by the beneficiaries for settling my mother-in-law's estate. Because I always admired it. I can sit and watch this scene for long spells and find it always satisfying.
